One of my earliest, and fondest, memories is standing on a stool in my Grandmother’s kitchen baking cupcakes with her.
Many years later when I had my own children, I made a promise to myself that I would make their birthday cakes every year.
This is when my journey into cake decorating started.

Many years later when I had my own children, I made a promise to myself that I would make their birthday cakes every year.
This is when my journey into cake decorating started.
I realised that the many hours I spent pouring love into their cakes, that I truly loved what I was doing.
I attended courses to develop my skills and strived to make every cake better than the last.
This passion has now grown into a business. I feel so privileged to meet couples who are at the beginning of their own journey together and create wedding cakes and cakes for extra special celebrations.
My husband David, was born in Venezuela and raised in the beautiful Portuguese island of Madeira. I take huge delight in our family gatherings where food is everything! Recipes are handed down through generations and I always come away inspired.
I work with care and dedication, getting to know my clients to ensure the cake I design is truly bespoke to them.
I pride myself on my cake flavours, finishing, attention to detail.
The business has grown over the past few years and I often pinch myself that we now have a Shop and very own Bakery too.
About us - Kelly's Kitchen has been registered with North Herts District Council (based in Royston, Herts near Cambridge) for our shop and Cambridgeshire District Council for the Bakery (just across the border and 10 mins from the shop in Bassingbourn, Cambs) we have been awarded a 5 food safety rating. We are fully insured and carry a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.

After a career in the Finance Industry I took a break to join my wife Kelly to co manage our family business - and decided not to go back!
I have always loved being in the kitchen, making Venezuelan & Madeira recipes - and also my own too.

I have always loved being in the kitchen, making Venezuelan & Madeira recipes - and also my own too.
Although I do now bake Kelly’s recipes from scratch, my main role is to manage many aspects of the business. Including the shop, staffing, the bakery I am of course chief baker of our Pasteis de Nata!
Our Team
Liz is our Wedding Coordinator (see below) but also works in the shop on Fridays
Sofia works in the shop on Saturdays and often helps with Cupcake Decorating Parties too.
Natasha works in the shop on Fridays with Liz and loves to be creative with photos of our bakes too!

Liz joined the team in November 21 as Wedding Coordinator.
Liz is a point of contact for couples and assists with booking in Wedding Consultations, answering queries and liaising with venues. Liz is the definition of organised! She is loved by our couples and helps to ensure they are thoroughly looked after from first enquiry to thier Wedding Day.

"I got married back in 2007. It was the happiest day of my life - I certainly remember the jaw-ache from all the smiling. I was a bridesmaid aged 10 and a chorister at lots of church weddings throughout childhood. After planning my own big day with military precision and attending friends’ beautiful ceremonies, there’s not a lot I don’t love about weddings. I lived in London when I was married, with an early career in live TV production and then Account Management. Being on top of things was a total must and I am still super organised in every area of my life - especially with two sons! Combine this with an absolute, greedy passion for cake, and I’m hoping I can really help and support all the lovely Brides and Grooms who choose Kelly’s Kitchen as their wedding cake maker"
