So, you're at the start of your exciting journey together and are planning your big day. You two are the stars of the show but you want your wedding cake to represent you as a couple. We pride ourselves on finding out as much as possible about our couples to ensure that the cake we design is completely bespoke to you.
Booking either a virtual or in person consultation is the best way to start.
Zoom consultations are conducted from Kelly's Kitchen Bakery, so you can see where your cake will be baked with love, dedication and attention to detail.
In person consultations take place at the Kelly's Kitchen Cake Shop on 7A Lower King Street in Royston. Enjoy a complimentary drink whilst you try cake flavours and we discuss your cake. You’ll also receive a voucher to spend on treats from our counter.
Prior to the consultation you will receive a questionaire to complete. This is so Kelly can get to know your vision and bring some initial ideas to the consultation.
During the consultation Kelly will have a chat with you about your wedding and sketch out a few designs, Kelly won't stop until we land on a design you fall in love with.
In Person consultations are £30 which includes freshly baked cupcakes to enjoy - including 4 different flavours plus a £10 voucher to spend on freshly baked treats in our shop and a complimentary drink too.
Zoom consultations are £25 which also include a box of 4 cupcakes and a £10 voucher to spend in the shop. However these need to be collected from the shop during opening hours.

The most important part of the cake design process is the initial consultation. For the couple and the cake designer.
Not only will you taste the different flavour combinations on offer, with tea, coffee or a glass of bubbly! But you'll also be part of the design process for your cake.

Our Wedding Coordinator Liz will book your consultation and will provide you with a Pre Wedding Consultation Form. We ask that this is returned 2 weeks prior to your consultation. This form will ask questions about you as a couple, your wedding and your vision for your cake.
Providing us with as much information as possible will help us gather some ideas for your cake prior to the consultation. You’re welcome to provide colour references, photos of other cakes (as inspiration only, we do not copy other cake designs), or details of flowers you’ve booked etc. Don’t worry if you don’t have these details though, we can inspire you with some new designs!
During your consultation we will discuss these details and Kelly will sketch out some designs for your cake. This is a fully interactive process, we welcome your feedback and ideas, often designs come together with us working together, you can be as involved as you wish to be with your wedding cake design.
Kelly often recommends that fresh flowers are used on your cake to tie in with the flowers used in your venue. Any flowers that are recommended will need to be ordered by yourselves from your florist, they are not included within our quotation.
Please note that not all flowers are food safe, Kelly will wrap the stems when inserting them into the cake but flowers such as Gypsophila and Eucalyptus are not recommended for use on cakes. Kelly can often recommend silk versions if there is a particular flower that you wish to include on your cake.
Once we have agreed on your requirements, we will provide you with a written quotation and terms and conditions one week after the consultation. If you are happy to go ahead we ask for a £75 deposit to confirm your date following which we will provide a photo of the sketch of your chosen design. Please refer to the full terms & conditions for more details about payment terms.
What happens next?
Once the deposit has been received your cake will be booked in the diary. Liz will then get in touch 6 weeks prior to reconfirm all of the details and request final payment.
We will also get in touch with your florist (if flowers are being used on the cake) and the venue to confirm details about the day itself including access times, allergen information and insurance details.
Liz will also be in touch a few days before to wish you the best and to reassure you that your cake will be imminently baked freshly for your big day!
If you have sourced your own cake topper or cake stand, we ask that it is left for us at the venue so we can use these when we arrive to set up. We do have a selection of cake stands available to hire, these are offered for a £25 fee and a refundable deposit. (Please note; cake stands cannot be picked up after the wedding, they will need to be returned to Kelly’s Kitchen Bakery on the date and time agreed and in the original packaging in order for the deposit to be returned).
Feedback is really important to us. We will also send out a feedback form after your wedding, if you're able to complete it for us we will provide a complimentary box of cupcakes for your first anniversary (that can be collected from our shop on the weekend closest to your anniversary)
